Overview

3-day HEFAT - Hostile Environment First Aid Training For travel to medium & high risk areas

This course focuses on travel safety, remote first aid, situational awareness, threat management and modules specific to travel in areas classed as medium to high risk. HEFAT includes a one-day Qualsafe Awards First Aid certification – with added focus on remote first aid and trauma awareness.

Through immersive scenario training learners practice how to react when faced with distressing and stressful situations. Where do you position yourself under fire if you are exiting a vehicle? How do you deal with illegal checkpoints? What risk assessments and SOPs can you and your team put in place prior to departure to improve your safety? How do i move a casualty to safety in dense forest without a stretcher? These are all covered in our course modules.

"We slow down situations by replaying training scenarios to develop robust coping mechanisms and decisive decision making under pressure - we'd rather learners make mistakes with us during simulations, than out in the field".  Mike Hope, Lead HEAT instructor for Soteria Risk Training.

Our Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT) courses are bespoke, designed by specialists in the hostile theatre, for those working in the world's most challenging environments.

We work with NGO's, universities, media outlets and governement organisations to help them accomplish their missions as safely and effectively as possible. Organisations have a duty of care to their personnel and we help them achieve that with quality training, in an empowering and enthused environment.

We can deliver the course with you but this course suits our rural, privately owned Dumfries training centre where we utilise our rugged surrounding environments to recreate scenarios and put learners in the heart of the action.
